WHY I NEED A COACH...

DO YOU REALLY NEED A COACH?

It might seem like an odd question coming from someone like myself who has raced for the better part of two decades and has 300 coached athletes on our AP RACING TEAM, but this might be even more of a reason why I know that having a coach is crucial for athletes at every level of their development. When people ask me why I need a coach, the answer is simple:

“I count on him(Mike Doane, my coach since 2002) to give me perspective and to stop me before I go too far.”

You see…

  • I don’t need a coach to be my cheerleader.  However, hearing positive words of encouragement never hurt, especially when it comes from a place of knowledge and experience.

  • I need a coach to help me stay on the path to improvement when my thoughts and desires can and will derail me.

  • I need a coach to bounce crazy ideas and thoughts off of, usually the result of my brain wandering during the countless hours of training.

  • I need a coach to help bring me back to reality when the big moment gets so close you can taste it.

  • I need a coach to help me stay disciplined and focused on the MAIN THING..

  • I need a coach to guide me towards goals we set together by setting the daily, weekly, and monthly routine.

  • I need a coach to review my plan the night before the big event.

  • I need a coach to pick me up when I’m broken down by the work or dismayed by an injury.

  • I need a coach to give me perspective when I’m disappointed in my progress or lack thereof.

  • I need a coach to help me stay dedicated to practice the things I’m not naturally good at while also boosting me up with work where I can excel.

My investment in a coach is really an investment in myself

I have goals; I want to experience awesome things with cool people.  My coach will help me fulfill my mission of being the best version of me.

If you want to invest in yourself and help find the best version of you, think about getting a coach. Heck, take a look at AP Racing where we base all of our coaching programs and methodology off of what Mike, Daniel and myself have molded over the past 18 years.
