The Long Game | Love Who You Are. Love Who You Will Become.

TRIATHLON IS ABOUT MORE…

Triathlon isn’t about racing, suffering, cool gear, hawaii or anything else you might think when you ‘think triathlon’. Well, maybe a little. But, at its core, triathlon about transformation. It’s about life—and a long life well lived.

Training for a triathlon is a commitment to becoming the best version of yourself, physically and mentally. Every swim, ride, and run is a step toward that future self. The work you do today pays compounding dividends over time—not just in races, but in health, discipline, and confidence.

The foundation? Consistency. Repeatability. But the true X-factor? Patience.

Patience is the #1 success factor for any triathlete—and any human being. Growth doesn’t happen overnight. The athletes who succeed are the ones who stick with it when progress is slow, who trust the process, and who know that small, repeated efforts are what lead to big results.

DON’T CONFUSE WHAT ‘FUN’ IS-

People often confuse “fun” with ease or comfort. But real fun is freedom—the ability to do what you love now and for years to come. It’s setting a goal, working hard, and seeing it through. It’s pushing your limits and discovering what you’re made of. It’s being strong enough to lift up your kids or grandkids, go for a hike, play in the park, roll around on the ground… it is what you define as fun, but its only possible by setting yourself up for success for both now and in the future.

Show me someone who gave it everything, and I’ll show you someone who looks back with no regrets—just pride, joy, and gratitude for the journey. Saying ‘just go have fun’ is an excuse for not trying, and I don’t like it- not one bit. You can have fun and fail. You can have fun and work hard. You can have fun and put it all on the line. You can’t have fun if you half-ass it, sorry- you are just lying to yourself and giving yourself ‘an out’. Even if it is a simple as playing a game in your back yard or a board game with friends or a project at work- we all know that anything we invest ourselves in are the things we remember and value the most.

Hard work, consistency, commitment, and patience aren’t just keys to triathlon. They’re the ingredients of a meaningful life. Don’t trade lasting fulfillment for momentary comfort. The “now” is fleeting. But when you train and live with the long view in mind, you build something real—and lasting.

Love who you are. Train for who you’re becoming. And give your future self every reason to say: Thank you.
