If Information Was Enough, We’d All Be Sub-8 Ironman Athletes
INFORMATION ISN’T ENOUGH
We’re surrounded by information. Training plans, race strategies, AI, nutrition tips — it’s all just a swipe or search away. If knowledge alone led to results, we’d all be Ironman champions.
But here’s the truth….
If it doesn’t change your behavior, it’s just trivia.
And the real learning? It’s in the doing.
At AP Racing, we coach athletes who’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, and watched the videos. We have coached athletes that know absolutely NOTHING too. Both positions have value and all the knowledge is valuable — but nothing replaces the experience of actually being out there.
You can read all about how to fuel properly, but until you’re 4 hours deep into a long ride — tired, under-fueled, and staring down 90 more minutes — you haven’t really learned how to adapt, solve problems, and keep moving.
That’s where the real growth happens.
Daniel, with his background in soccer, always says that the ‘ball is the greatest teacher'.’ The coach’s job is to put players in a game/situation so that the game/ball can teach them. So, that they can figure it out, adapt and learn.
The same is true for triathlon- your job as a coach(and athlete) is to put yourself in training situations that allow you to grow both physically and mentally.
Knowledge Doesn’t Sweat
Knowing your ideal race pace is one thing. Hitting it when your legs are screaming and your mind wants to quit is something else entirely.
You can’t intellectualize your way through the pain cave. You have to train for it. Show up. Struggle. Adjust. Overcome.
And that’s why doing matters more than knowing.
AP Racing: Coaching You Through the Work
At AP Racing, we’re not just giving you the “what” — we’re coaching the “how,” “why,” and “what now?”
We design smart, personalized training.
We hold you accountable to your goals. Your teammates do too!
And we help you learn from the process — not just the plan.
