AP Racing | Swim Methodology

THE AP RACING WAY

We just wrapped AP Racing Swim & Ski Camp.

8 swims.
4 days.
Endless adventure.
Relentless learning.

When you stack sessions like that, the truth shows up fast. What’s working. What’s not. What’s holding you back. Combine that with a coach’s watchful eye, video analysis and technical analysis sessions with the EO Swim Power Meter and things become really clear.

So we went back to our framework—the one that’s helped hundreds of swimmers move better, swim faster, and train smarter.

Simple. Repeatable. Proven.
Review it. Use it. Own it.

When you’re ready to level up, join us at our next camp—or let us coach you inside the AP Racing Team.

Let’s get to work- take a look at the framework of our swimming methodology:
2 B’s, 3 P’s and an I.

The 2 B’s | Balance & Breath

2 “B’s”: Balance & Breathing

  • Balance: Swimming starts with balance. Use streamline drills, kick on side drills, and focus on “pushing on the T.”

  • Breathing: Don’t let breathing disrupt your stroke. One goggle in/one out. Don’t lift your head forward. Exhale before turning and breathe into the air pocket.

3 “P’s”: Pitch → Path → Power

  • Pitch: Hand below wrist, wrist below elbow. Is my hand pitching in or out? Does my hand face up or forward? What direction is my hand facing and pushing energy?

  • Path: Hand direction matters—we want our fingertips down and palm facing back, not down. Our hand has the right of way and our hips have to get out of the way for our hand’s path.

  • Power: Hold water and move it. Decide whether speed comes from a higher stroke rate or holding more water per stroke.

“I” = Eyes

  • Organize the body around the head (top down). Head stays still, eyes down and slightly forward. The body moves around the head. Less head movement = faster more efficient swimming.

Why This Matters

Swimming improvement isn’t just about grinding more yards.

It’s about clarity.

At AP Racing, whether it’s a camp or ongoing coaching, we break the sport down so you know exactly what to work on—and why.

We film you.
We test you.
We simplify it.
We individualize it.

You leave knowing what lever actually moves the needle for you.

And when you have that clarity? Training becomes fun again.

If you’re ready to stop guessing and start progressing, join us at an upcoming AP Racing camp or explore coaching options.

We’ll go deeper into the 3 B’s, 2 P’s and 1 I—and more importantly, we’ll apply them to your stroke.

See you on deck.
