1:1 COACHED ATHLETES vs CUSTOM TRAINING PLAN

 

WHAT WE HEARD:

What are the main differences between 1:1 coaching and a custom training Pottshead plan? 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • We often get asked a lot what the main difference is between being coached and working off of a training plan. While we do our absolute best to customize your plans, we do not have the intimate and weekly knowledge that we get from coaching an Athlete and studying them. In broad strokes, here are some key differences:
    • Access to coaches: As a AP Racing athlete, you pretty much have unfettered access to our coaching staff.
    • Your Training. Your Way: Weekly updates, changes and modifications to training based on your schedule, how you are responding to training and what life throws at you.
    • Specific Feedback + Support: Weekly guidance from coaches and feedback on training progress, areas to improve, etc.
    • Workout specific goals: We are not living in a world of zones with our 1:1 coached athletes. We are living in a world with specific wattage #'s, paces, and heart rates. We know your body, we know you and we create your training based on that.

TRAINING PLANS, SEMINARS and COACH'S HOURS

 

WHAT WE HEARD: 

We would like a way to learn more from Andy and the coaches as well as have a way to communicate with other athletes. Some of the workout headings do not always match the workouts.

NEW FOR 2018

Workouts and Training Plans

  • Updated workout descriptions for Training Plans: Our training plans and workout descriptions will now include more detailed descriptions, key goals/objectives and rationale.
  •  Training Block Goals and Objectives: Each training block, for both coached athletes and training plan athletes will include an overview of goals/objectives for that training block.

Web conferences, Seminars, and Team Meetings

  • CALENDLY APPOINTMENTS. You can schedule 1:1’s with one of our AP Racing coaches. For Pottsheads with custom training plans, you can schedule one (1) call per calendar year; any additional sessions are charged at $75/call. Coaches will have availability most days of the week from 1:30 – 3MT.   • Mix It Up Mondays with Andy: On the following dates, we will host a team seminar in our FB group via FB live that addresses key training/racing concepts as well as answer any questions. Here are the dates and tentative topics we will cover. We will take suggestions and recommendations for topics as well.

WHAT WE HEARD: 

We love seeing out on the race course in our AP Racing gear; how do we get everyone in our team gear and get our gear on-time?

NEW FOR 2018

New Vendor: 

  • We will have a new clothing partner for 18. Stay tuned for details.

SET ORDER WINDOWS

  • We will have set order windows for 2018 so that everyone can plan their gear orders accordingly based on their needs:

    • 1: Order Window: Dec 10 - Jan 15 / Delivery Date: March 1
    • 2: Order Window: May 15 - May 30 / Delivery Date: July 15
    • 3: Order Window: Sep 15 - Sept 30 / Delivery Date: November 15

GEAR CREDITS FOR ALL TEAM MEMBERS:

  • Every AP Racing team member will receive a credit for gear in 2018 with a value of $25 - $499. You will receive your gear credit redemption code when we open up our first store in December 2018.

TEAM EVENTS, TEAM RACES + TEAM WORKOUTS

 

WHAT WE HEARD: 

We really like each other and we really like getting together. It would be great to have more team events in 2018.

NEW FOR 2018

TEAM CAmps, Team Races + Events: 

  • We will have 3 team camps with discounted race entries attached to each of them in 2018. We will offer team members:
    • Priority registration
    • Camp Pass: $300+ in savings
    • Guaranteed race entries

TEAM RACES:

  • We have tentatively designated the following races as team races. At these races, we will have either Andy or a coach at the event as well as team activities.  This list will be refined and changed once we get everyone’s 2018 schedule and have our first team meeting.

    • Super Seal Triathlon

    • Escape from Alcatraz

    • Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico(tbd)

    • Ironman 70.3 Boulder

    • Ironman Arizona

REGIONAL TEAM LEADS:

  • We are looking for a few good men and women to be regional team leads for this year. To be a regional team lead, you will be ‘in charge’ of your city/region to host

    • Monthly/Quarterly team events (training, social, etc)

    • Team workouts (TBD)

    • To be a regional team lead, your region will need to have 5 or more athletes already established or ‘recruited’ in your region

    • What you get for doing it: We are not sure yet, but, we will certainly make it worth it.  Things might include free gear, race entries, bragging rights, free coaching, etc.

TEAM WORKOUTS:

  • We are going to try our best to coordinate at least one workout per week that is similar across all of our athletes, IE:  Track Tuesday. This way, we can discuss the workout as a group and see how everyone is doing.

  • This workout can also be done with the regional teams.

TRAINING PLANS, THE 'OFF SEASON', STRENGTH WORK + OTHER QUESTIONS ANSWERED

WHAT WE HEARD: 

I need a strength training plan, I would like an off season plan and when do we get started.

NEW FOR 2018

Strength Training Plans: 

  • We will have strength training plans that folks can 'apply' to their custom plans
  • We will incorporate strength training and functional strength training into all custom built training plans and 1:1 athlete plans.
  • We are building out a video series to accompany the strength training that should be available by mid-december.

OFF SEASON PLANS: 

  • All custom training plans will be planned out until the final race of the season. We will have off-season training built into your training plan to start off the year. 
  • All athletes, 1:1 and Pottsheads training plan athletes will start their off season on December 1st. 

MEMBERSHIP SEASON

  • Our team 'season' will last from the day you sign up until October 15th of the following year. We recognize folks have races in November and will handle on an individual basis. 
  • Your membership auto-renews yearly based on your sign up date.
  • Your custom plan will take 2-5 weeks to build; please reach out if you have questions.
  • If you sign up before November, all custom plans will start on December 1st
  • If you sign up after November, you will receive your plan within 2-5 weeks.
  • Please note, we have to keep our season condensed like this so we can get everything setup for the following year for all team members.

MEMBERSHIP ONLY OPTION

  • We will have membership only option that include a gear credit. We think you should still use our training plans or get 1:1 coaching by us; because we are awesome. But, we get it- you want to give everyone you race against a fair chance to win for once. Next year!
